  • Kastellet is one of the best preserved fortifications in Northern Europe. It is an active military area as well as a public park. In 1800, a total of 16 windmills were found on the ramparts of Copenhagen. The mill in Kastellet is the last that is still working.

Bryggen has since 1979 been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites. Seen from the back, here, the jumbled rooftops don't say much for town planning in the middle ages!

  • When completed in 1899, the post office was the largest office building and first building incorporating a steel frame in Washington. Today it is the third tallest structure in DC and is used for retail and office space. Visitors can view the Bells of Congress, replicas of those at Westminster Abbey and the official bells of the United States Congress.

  • Bryggen (Norwegian for the Wharf), also known as Tyskebryggen (the German Wharf) is a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the fjord coming into Bergen, Norway. Bryggen has since 1979 been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites. These historic shops were a challenge to shoot because they are so crooked. I used a zoom to compress the scene and allow me to get more of them in the shot. This was one of my favorite shots of  the bryggen.
